Created by perfumer Alexandra Carlin, Vanille Caviar is a monochromatic masterpiece and the sixth addition to the Collection Matières. Inspired by the "Outrenoir" (Beyond Black) paintings of Pierre Soulages, this fragrance explores the idea of black as a source of light. It aims to capture the physical sensation of splitting open a fresh vanilla pod to reveal the glistening, dark seeds, the "caviar" of the plant. This is not your typical sugary vanilla; it is an "Outrenoir" vanilla that is dark, dense, and textured, yet pierced with an internal luminosity that shifts with the light.
Olfactory Pyramid:
Top Notes: Blackcurrant Bud, Cardamom, Calamus
Heart Notes: Vanilla Caviar Accord, Cocoa Bean, Osmanthus
Base Notes: Madagascar Vanilla Absolute, Peru Balsam, Cistus Labdanum
Vibe: "The Radiant Monochrome", darkly resinous, salty-mineral, sophisticatedly woody, and avant-garde gourmand.
Performance: Vanille Caviar offers a deep, structural performance characteristic of the Collection Matières. It delivers excellent longevity (10+ hours) with a sillage that is sophisticated and present without being cloying. The use of Calamus and Cardamom provides a cool, spicy tension in the opening, while the Peru Balsam and Labdanum create a persistent, warm, and slightly animalic base. It creates a "shimmering dark" aura that remains vibrant on the skin, moving from a green-fruity start to a rich, salty-sweet balsamic dry down.
