What does Le Persona Whispering Kiss smell like? It opens spiced and slightly bitter with immortelle, pepper, cardamom and ginger, then turns boozy and warm at the heart, where cognac and rum sit against red bean and sage. The base is soft and enveloping: amber, vanilla, patchouli and vetiver over a woody accord. Sweet and warm rather than fresh, and closer to skin than to a room.
Is Whispering Kiss a winter fragrance? It suits cold weather best. Cognac, rum, amber and vanilla are cool-weather materials, and the extrait concentration gives them room to bloom against body heat. It works on a cool evening year-round, but summer daytime is not its setting.
How strong is it? This is an extrait de parfum, the most concentrated form, so a little goes further than a standard eau de parfum. One or two sprays is usually enough; it is not a quiet fragrance once it warms up.
Should I buy it without smelling it first? We would not. Boozy, red-bean sweetness is a specific taste and a 50mL extrait is a serious commitment. Take the 1.5mL sample, wear it twice, and you will know.
